Hilton Hall is the ideal venue if you’re tying the knot or planning a special occasion or corporate event. Hilton Hall is an impressive grade 1 listed building, set in 25 acres of unspoiled woodland on the outskirts of Wolverhampton.
It offers complete privacy for your event and is the perfect romantic setting for weddings and other special occasions. The stunning mansion is licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, and has a large marquee set in the grounds.
Hilton Hall has a skilled team on hand including receptionists, gardeners, maintenance and catering and events staff, who all provide a friendly, professional service to clients. With impeccable attention to detail and calm efficiency, nothing is too much trouble.
The current hall is an example of early Georgian architecture. it was completed around 1720, commissioned by Henry Vernon who was then High Sheriff of Staffordshire. However, the estate was first occupied by Sir Henry Swynnerton who built a manor house with moat in the 14th century.
By the 16th century the hall was in the ownership of the Vernon family who later included Admiral Vernon. In 1739 he famously captured the Spanish stronghold of Porto Bello with only six ships. The Portobello Tower, which still stands on the hill fronting the hall, was put up in his honour and is visible from the M54.
Another famous ancestor was Richard Vernon who bred horses at Hilton Hall and was a co-founder of the Jockey Club of Great Britian. His horse named ‘Diomed’ was the winner of the very first Epsom Derby in 1780.
In addition to the main hall and surrounding parkland, there are a collection of early Victorian outbuildings – including the stable block with courtyard and clock tower, a walled kitchen garden, part of the original moat and the grade 1 listed forcing house which was used as a conservatory and summer house by the lake.
